Dip Hyp CS, Ad Dip CP
I am a qualified integrative therapist, using hypnotherapy and counselling.
My outlook in life is to try to change a negative into a positive, which is of course is impossible with every situation we endure in life. I personally have experienced various different traumas, through childhood, teenage years and into adulthood. As a mother, I have guided my children through experiences that no mother would wish their child to endure.
My negative into positive saw me undertake training to become a psychotherapeutic counsellor to an advanced level. I have also gained an additional qualification in infant loss through The Foundation for Infant Loss to work with families who experience miscarriage and neonatal bereavement. This adds to other specialisms through personal experience around bereavement, bereavement through suicide or accident, divorce, and adult survivors of child sexual abuse (experience within court room setting).
The trauma of many life experiences can lead to debilitating illnesses, both physical and mental. Depression, anxiety, stress, overwhelmed are words we all hear on a daily basis when generally chatting to family, friends, work colleagues or just over hearing conversations. Counselling can help us cope with those over consuming feelings. Through using a variety of integrative therapies, coping strategies can be introduced and included into our everyday life.
A very current topical illness is fibromyalgia for which counselling is recommended by the NHS and other healthcare organisations. Among other possible causes for this debilitating illness, past trauma can be a contributing factor. Sadly we cannot avoid trauma happening but seeking help while enduring the trauma or even months, years later may reduce risk to further illnesses that have been linked to psychological trauma.
We all know how it feels to feel run down and exhausted physically but why, when we are mentally exhausted and run down, do we not think we need help and time to heal, time and help to recover and allow ourself space and time to move forward.
We all generally think of grief as the death of someone but grief emotions are experienced from loss through divorce/relationship breakdown, loss of a job, a child moving out and a multitude of life experiences that can lead to grief emotions and in some instances Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
I am an empathic, non judgemental Integrated Therapist.
I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation which I hope will relieve any anxieties you have about meeting me and so you get an idea about what to expect during further sessions.
Taking the 1st step to make contact is always the hardest and it is very important to build a good rapport and relationship with the counsellor or therapist you choose, after all, you will be working together for a period of time. Feeling listened to within an environment that you trust, is vital in your recovery of whatever you have experienced.
